Ana Ruiz develops a body of paintings and installations in which color, material and imagination compose a sensitive, structured world. Her canvases answer one another from series to series: houses, volcanic landscapes, faces and garments become intimate territories.

Background and awards

Born in León, Spain, Ana Ruiz Llamazares studied at the CEAC school in Spain, in the discipline of artistic drawing, then in Paris with the Argentine painter Beatriz Lozada. She has lived and worked in France since 1987.

Winner of the first prize for young artists at the Monumento al minero in Guardo (Spain) in 1976, she was named Artist of the Year in Gif-sur-Yvette in 2004 and presented “Angles de vie” at the Château de Belleville the following year.

Her work has been shown in Gif-sur-Yvette (Le Canapé gallery-restaurant, Château de Belleville), Villebon-sur-Yvette, Palaiseau and Jouy-en-Josas.
